Owned and operated by the Port of Oakland , OAK is California's fourth largest airport, with more than 11 million passengers passing through our gates every year. Today, 13 airlines offer nonstop service to a growing list of 55 international and domestic destinations. We're the closest airport to the region's top tourism and entertainment venues and the closest airport for most local residents.
As the Bay Area's second largest airport, we're constantly working to create a world-class travel experience and become the Bay Area's top choice for leisure and business travelers, air cargo and general aviation operations.
Oakland International Airport (IATA: OAK, ICAO: KOAK), also known as Metropolitan Oakland International Airport, is an airport located 4 miles (6 km) south of downtown Oakland in Alameda County, California. One of three international airports in the San Francisco Bay Area, airlines serving Oakland International provide service to numerous destinations in the United States, as well as Mexico. It has proven a popular alternative to San Francisco International, thanks largely to a heavy Southwest Airlines presence.
Oakland International is popular with low cost airlines and in recent years has been one of the nation's fastest growing airports. A $1.4 billion dollar expansion project currently underway is expected to be completed by 2009. The project includes the addition of five gates to Terminal 2, expected to be open in the fall of 2006. Following the completion of those gates, Terminal 1 will be renovated and expanded by seven gates.
In addition to airline operations, Oakland International is a large general aviation airport. Airline operations use the South Field (runway 11/29), while general aviation uses the North Field (runways 9R/27L, 9L/27R, and 15/33). In 2004, Oakland had 339,163 aircraft movements, and was the 30th busiest airport in the United States.
Being your gateway to the Bay Area means providing hassle-free connections to wherever you're headed. From taxis, limos, rental cars, shuttles to busses and OAK's new Bay Area Rapid Transit station, we can get you from your gate to ground transportation quickly and easily.

The Airport is in the process of upgrading its parking system technology and related data networks. This is a complex, multi-million dollar project that will provide significant enhancements to the Loyalty Programs and other important customer services. However during this transitional period it is a challenge to process any of the older discount programs, therefore our $4-$8 Coupons will no longer be accepted, and Registration and Renewal for the Corporate Parker Program is temporarily suspended.
We encourage our loyal customers to register for the Frequent Parker Program during this transition.
Customers may experience delays while exiting the parking plaza.
We will contact you shortly to inform you of interim member benefits, provide more information on the future of our loyalty Programs and discounts offered at OAK, and a time-frame for introducing the new programs. The Airport values your business and interest in our parking programs and apologizes for any inconvenience.
